    May 27, 1844: A cooperative community was founded in Fond du Lac County by the Wisconsin Phalanx, a utopian organization developed in Kenosha by Warren Chase. The founders named the community Ceresco after the Roman goddess of the harvest. The community dissolved by 1850 but a new community of Ripon developed after Ceresco’s demise.
